An interdisciplinary gathering explores how ideas of the future inform action in the present.
As head of the conference's organizing committee, Dr. Selin led the creation of a multi-day, virtual and in-person event that focused on just futures, explored equity and fairness, and questioned who imagines futures and with which impacts. Dr. Selin and her committee colleagues invited researchers, scholars and practitioners engaging with anticipation and anticipatory practices to come together to deepen their understanding and create productive new connections. Both the conference and the interdisciplinary field of Anticipation Studies seek to create new understandings of how individuals, groups, institutions, systems and cultures use ideas of the future to act in the present.
